Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate is keen to prove himself in order to win over new head coach Arne Slot, with the pre-season tour likely to be a bit of a blur.

Konaté is off to France at Euro 2024, so he is not the first team to join the training camp with Slot, losing his starting spot to Jarrell Quansah in the season-opening 2-0 win over Ipswich.

However, the Frenchman claimed his place in the table in the 2-0 win over Brentford at the weekend and will be hoping to keep it going strong.

“I’m happy and I’ve shown what I can do because I think people forget what I did last season or what I did against Ipswich,” he told the official website.

“Now I have to show that I am ready for this season as best as I can. I hope to become the best defender in the world this season.”

“We have to prepare for the next game. It’s a big game (against Manchester United) which comes very quickly.”

“It’s not 100% settle yet because we’re working with ยูฟ่าเบท a new head coach. We’re starting to do new things – but it’s settle down better and we’re ready to deliver 100% as the new boss wants.”
