Napoli manager Antonio Conte has slammed himself for failing to convince star forward Kvicha Kvaratskhelia to stay at the club.

“I want to emphasize something, I feel it is necessary to do this because if I was in England I think there would be misinterpretation, but I speak Italian and it seems people misinterpret what I say,” Conte said after his team’s 2-0 win over Verona.

“I’m speak of disappointment not for the players, not for the club, but for myself, because in six months I could not change the situation. I do not say that Kwara or the club let me down. I’m always take responsibility for my actions. I do not blame others.”

“I’ve think I can make a different impact in six months, but I know we can get back to where we were. I want to be clear because I saw some headlines today that said ‘Conte is disappoint with Kwara’. I am not disappoint with Kwara.

“l think the coach should help the club make decisions and advise on the players they sign. When I knew I couldn’t make a difference there, that was my disappointment. I didn’t want anything from Kvicha. He’s a good boy, but everyone has to make their own decisions and the club has to make decisions.”
