Ronald Araujo came under fire after allowing Inter Milan defender Francesco Acerbi to equalise in stoppage time before eliminating the Blaugrana in the semi-finals in extra time.

Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo has taken to Instagram to acknowledge the criticism he received for his part in the Blaugrana’s Champions League semi-final exit following a 4-3 extra-time defeat to Inter Milan.

Ronald Araújo has responded publicly after facing heavy criticism for his role in FC Barcelona’s dramatic UEFA Champions League semifinal exit against Inter Milan. The Uruguayan defender took to Instagram to deliver a heartfelt message of accountability, pride, and resilience, just days ahead of El Clásico.

‘I accept it and I accept it. I’ve never been one to hide and I never will. Losing a competition hurts, but it’s not the end. We’re working, fighting and giving it our all in the tough times when we’re not good enough, and that hurts too.’

‘But I also feel proud, proud of my team, proud of my teammates, proud of the badge that we represent and proud of all the players who have been with us every step of the way.’

‘In 2025 we have proven as a team and as fans the determination we have to win. El Clasico is coming up and we will play with all our might. We are Barcelona and we will come back stronger,’ Araujo posted.
